Preparing for Success: Scaffolding and transfer to daily functioning

As a ‘cognitive coach’, you will support children as they play Dino Island. Your role is to teach the different strategies previously introduced to help them think about their performance, how they could improve, and to be more successful.

Coaches use scaffolding, routines, and positive behaviour supports (all described in the pages that follow) to help children stay motivated, move through the games, experience success, and manage their frustration. These supports are not only helpful for children when playing Dino Island, but are also helpful as they negotiate challenging circumstances in their daily lives.
